Cheesy, Easy, and Delicious! Casserole pizza for a keto diet is mouthwatering and does not take much time and effort to prepare. And it has no gluten in it. I thought I would have to give up pizza when we started keto.

Luckily, we discovered this crust less pizza which we make almost once a week now and I would like to admit that we could have eaten it even more.

Keto Diet Pizza Casserole Recipe Easy

Some people may question if this can be called a pizza. And I don’t mind that. It is not a circular pizza but a jalapeno and cheese pizza which has all the taste of a comfortable and cheesy pepperoni pizza just without the carbs. We have tested several types of low carb pizza bases like cauliflower pizza base, almond flour and cassava, but they don’t compare to the taste of this crustless pizza.

Nevertheless, if you do not wish to imagine eating a pizza ever without the crust, and are following a low-carb and gluten free diet, then make my chicken parmesan pizza which has a ground chicken crust. It’s a pizza made with a chicken crust. I totally understand that a ground chicken crust doesn’t sound appetizing at all but once you have it you will look forward to having it again and again.

Time-Saving Keto Pizza Casserole

This is a no-crust pizza, so in 30 minutes, it is done! No rising dough or rolling it out. Whip this up in no time. Browning the ground beef takes about 10 to 12 minutes. While that is cooking, you can get the mozzarella cheese and other toppings ready. Then just layer everything in a casserole dish and bake for 20 minutes, and dinner is ready!

Ingredients for Keto Easy Pizza Recipe:

  • Deli Ham (optional) – Can be used as a crust or bottom layer for the casserole. I use a natural black forest ham without any nitrites/nitrates.
  • Ground Beef – We use grass fed because it is a Keto crowd, but it doesn’t matter any ground beef will do.
  • Italian Seasoning
  • Oregano
  • Pizza Sauce – You can use my pizza sauce or any low carb pizza sauce brand.
  • Pepperoni
  • Mozzarella Cheese – I purchase block cheese because it is cheaper than shredded and rape it with Maxam’s Vegetable Chopper which is handy with cheese, home made hash browns etc!

1. Brown Ground Beef: In a skillet, brown Italian seasonings and oregano beef ground cooked in a skillet.

2. Prepare the Casserole Dish: At the same time that the beef flows on one side, bottom of a 12×8 casserole dish is covered with slices of ham while mozzarella cheese is shredded.

3. Mix in Pizza Sauce: Pour in the pizza sauce into the deep fried mince meat and stir to combine.

4. Layer Like Lasagna: The beef mixture, cheese, and pepperoni are arranged in layers in the casserole dish. This is best done with others as pepperoni is the last layer also.

5. Bake: The casserole pan is put in the oven and baked at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes or till the cheese is puffed and melted.

Tasty Topping Suggestions:

It is made this way because there is no right winner for a pizza casserole. Any of your favorite toppings can be added to make the pizza casserole even more exciting as long as it is still low carb gluten free:

  • Green peppers
  • Onions
  • Jalapeños
  • Sliced pickled banana peppers
  • Chopped ham or bacon
  • Black olives
  • Mushrooms

FAQs

How to Store Leftover Pizza Casserole:

This crustless pizza casserole is so easy to store you are going to love it. I frequently make two casseroles; one for dinner and the other one goes into the freezer for another time. Simply portion them out and it is ready for the freezer to stock up for busy days or for quick dinner plans when you little time to cook.

Can I make this Keto pizza casserole ahead of time?

Yes, you can prepare it in advance and store it in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Just reheat in the oven until the cheese is bubbly.

Can I substitute the ground beef with another type of protein?

Absolutely! This is a great versatile recipe that always works with nearly any protein. Replace the ground beef with ground turkey, chicken, or even Italian sausage, as long as you season it well with Italian herbs and spices for a great flavor foundation.

Is there a vegetarian version of the keto pizza casserole?

Yes! Skip the meat and add more vegetables such as mushrooms, spinach, bell peppers, and zucchini; this will make it a vegetarian version. Alternatively, you can consider adding crumbled tofu or paneer as a substitute for the meat to increase the protein content in it.
